However, the only thing that has been bothering the reigning US Open champion is his injury struggles.
Speaking about it, the former American tennis player, James Blake, recently made a huge statement regarding the 19-year-old player’s longevity in competitive tennis. In the process, the 43-year-old veteran compared Alcaraz’s resilience to that of the 22-time Grand Slam champion.

The former American tennis player was recently featured in ‘The Pure Tennis Podcast show’ in which he gave his assessment of various youngsters on the men’s circuit, including Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe. Meanwhile, he was also asked about another rising tennis star, Carlos Alcaraz, and his stellar performances on the court.
James Blake said that the Spaniard has been a resounding figure on the ATP Tour given his list of titles at a very young age. However, his injuries have lately become a huge barrier in his path to reaching unprecedented heights in competitive tennis. Blake said, “He is such a nice guy and right now, he absolutely does have it all. The only thing you worry about right now is the injuries. He’s had quite a few already, and he’s 18 years old.”
The 43-year-old tennis veteran asserted that the reigning US Open champion’s legacy will be defined by the number of major titles in his bag. So, the 19-year-old player and his team have to be cautious about his injury niggles in order to have longevity on the court. Speaking of his team, Blake revealed that he was told that Alcaraz is going to be an incredible player if he maintains his fitness levels.

He said, “I spoke to Juan Carlos. It’s probably five years ago when he told me he’s, he’s training agenda. It’s gonna be special. And you know, he knew from early on that this kid is gonna be something incredible and so he is really captivating and you just hope he can stay healthy.”
In the process, Blake compared him to the 22-time singles Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, in terms of resilience and longevity on the court. He stated, “And this was the same way we I think some of us felt about Rafa when Rafa was 18 or 19 years old. He can’t play this physical, get to every ball and this much enthusiasm and still be playing 10 years from now. And here it is almost 20 years later, and he’s still doing it with that kind of gusto so you got hope he is like Rafa, but that’s a pretty, pretty tough task.”
