Stefanos Tsitsipas and his younger brother, Petros Tsitsipas, won the doubles title at the 2023 European Open in Antwerp. This marks their first ATP trophy win together. Stefanos, who has a decorated singles and doubles career, experienced a special moment in the victory. Petros, who primarily focuses on doubles, finds this win as an affirmation of his decision. The title marks Petros’ maiden ATP trophy.

In a heartfelt reflection on the win, Stefanos was quoted by The Tennis Letter, as stating: “There are certainly a lot of emotions. I must say that I have played a lot of tournaments in my life, I have won a lot of titles, and I have great memories. But this one struck me in a different way, and I can say with great confidence that it is probably one of the most emotional and important moments of my career, even more than the singles titles.”

He continued, “Being able to win with my brother is unimaginable. We were little kids running around hitting tennis balls and it would never have occurred to us that we would have the opportunity to play ATP 250, 500, or 1000. I would like to thank Petros and everyone who made this possible. We have come a long way and I really hope we can continue to do so. And that we can support each other in our own way and make this journey a dream.”

The Tsitsipas brothers’ emotional and personal victory not only develops their relationship both on and off the court, but also elevates their careers. Their ATP rating rises as a result of winning the competition.

Stefanos, who has won singles and doubles titles, has never won a trophy with his brother. This will probably end up being one of his favorite trophies for that very reason. He has made two major finals but only made it beyond the fourth round at five of the last 12 Grand Slams. This year, he only made the semis at one Masters 1000 event. Stefanos improved to 115 in the doubles rankings while his career-best ranking is 64. Petros sets a new career high in doubles at 81.
