Although he has been quite open about how he never wanted to get into tennis, wherever he has reached today, it’s all because of tennis, and that’s something that the 53-year-old tennis legend can’t deny. Recently, the eight-time Grand Slam champion peeled off the layers of his love for tennis and made a huge admission regarding the same.

During his time on the tennis court, Agassi has stood against some big names, including John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, and Federer. But was playing against them easily. Recently, the 53-year-old tennis legend appeared on the Pat McAfee show and talked about his love for tennis. At the same time, he also highlighted how playing against them was not a piece of cake.

He said, “I’m more grateful for the game of tennis than the game is for me, and I promise you that.”

Further, while talking about how the sport has given him a platform where he met his wife, he got the opportunity to help others. Along with that, you also stated that, even though playing tennis was great, his current position of watching tennis is more enjoyable.

Agassi said, “But at the same time, I can say, it’s a lot more enjoyable from my living room than it is from the worst seat in the stadium, which was you know typically against Pete or Roger. So I am just thankful I don’t have to do that anymore, but I do love it.”

Sampras and Agassi shared a great rivalry for their time. At the same time, he also found a competitor in the 42-year-old tennis legend, who apparently gave him a title run during the latter part of his career. After sharing a decade-long rivalry with the 52-year-old tennis legend, he opened up about one of his major career regrets, which he has carried forever.

When Andre Agassi outlined his career regret aligned with Pete Sampras 

During the ’90s, both of them met each other 34 times on the tennis court, with Sampras winning most of the matches against his arch-rival. A few years back, in an interview with Vijay Amritraj, the 8-time Grand Slam champion talked about their fierce rivalry and highlighted a huge career regret.

Furthermore, he disclosed that his tennis career would have been more successful had the 14-time Grand Slam winner was never a part of the same era. While Agassi has touched heights on the tennis court, Sampras has given him a tough run for titles, making his competitive journey full of ups and downs.
