Andy Murray picks his best performance

3-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray recently talked about his best performance as a tennis player. He picked the gold medal match against Roger Federer at the London Olympics in 2012. Truly, it was one of the best performances of Murray’s career, as he absolutely destroyed the Swiss Maestro in straight sets; the result was 6-2,6-1,6-4. 

Speaking about it, Murray said, “The final of the Olympics in 2012 against Federer, for me, was probably one of the best matches that I played in terms of like the occasion and everything. I thought that would probably be the one I would pick as my sort of best performance.”

With that victory, Murray became the first British man to win an Olympics singles gold medal in over a century. In that match, the Brit looked impeccable, as Federer stood no chance. 

Murray’s second gold medal in Rio Olympics

Incredibly, Murray successfully defended his singles gold medal at the Rio Olympics 2016. In the final, he beat Juan Martin del Potro to clinch his second Olympic gold. Undoubtedly, the atmosphere was electric.

The match lasted four sets, as the British player beat the Argentine by 7-5,4-6,6-2,7-5. After that win, Murray became the only player, both male and female, to win two Olympic singles gold medals.

Right now, Murray is struggling with form and consistency on the tour after returning from a long-term injury last year. Currently, he’s through to the second round after beating Taro Daniel in his first round. Next, he will play Alexander Bublik, which will definitely be a tough match for the Brit. At the age of 34, it will be great for Andy if he can go far in a Masters 1000 tournament.
