The former World No. 1 played in just 5 competitive tournaments in the 2021 season. After his knee surgery post-Wimbledon, he’s yet to make an official announcement about a return date. His last game was the quarter-final against Hubert Hurkacz, which he lost 3-6, 6-7, 0-6.
The 40-year-old player has ruled out his retirement from tennis for now. He is trying to make a comeback in summer 2022. He would definitely want to compete in Wimbledon one more time, but it seems unlikely for now, as per Federer.
