Athletes are managed by talent agencies, which help them with various brand deals and more. The big wigs try to get the young stars as soon as they can in an attempt to secure a talent for themselves. Joao Fonseca is one such player who has found himself in this position. The 17-year-old is being hounded by several talent agencies, showcasing his superstar status.

Fonseca has shown great promise in the last year. He won the US Open juniors and is setting his sights on the senior tour now. However, he cannot do it all by himself. The young Brazilian was initially signed by Roger Federer’s ‘On’ in 2023 as they sponsored him for clothing. Now, Federer’s talent company, Team8, IMG, and many more are aiming to bring him to their side.

As per freelance journalist Marcos Zugasti, Fonseca received offers as high as $1 million. Zugasti’s tweet said, “Today, in a mini random story: after Fonseca’s big tournament in Rio, there is a dispute between several agencies to sign him—IMG, Team8 (with a million-dollar renewal of On on the table for 5 years), his phone catches fire Cristiano Fonseca. Yes, the dad’s name is Cristiano.”

Fonseca’s rise in the sport does not end here. ‘On’ currently sponsors the player, and he has also received a renewal offer from the brand at the moment. However, he is not hasty.

Joao Fonseca has a renewal offer from Roger Federer’s ‘On’

The Brazilian youngster signed with ‘On’ in 2023, along with Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton. However, Fonseca’s contract is up for renewal. ‘On’ is ready to pay him an amount any other brand can offer. In short, they are ready to dig deep and fight for him. Aside from ‘Team8’, Federer’s ‘On’ is also awaiting a response from his family, who are not in any hurry.

In fact, On already told the father that they are willing to pay a base fee of $1M per year, plus bonus. For the moment, Fonseca’s family does not want to make hasty decisions or sign with anyone until they are 100% convinced.”
