Novak Djokovic is in Argentina and he is there for his friend, Juan Martin del Potro. The Argentinean ATP star will be playing his final match on the tennis court on December 1st. Although he officially retired back in 2022, he is playing a final exhibition match now as a way to say goodbye to the sport and his fans and he will have Djokovic on the other side of the court.

On Saturday, Novak was captured in an embrace with Del Potro at the airport. The two hugged as soon as Nole stepped off his jet, melting the hearts of fans across social media. The Tennis Letter captured the adorable reunion, tweeting the video of the moment. The post read, “Novak Djokovic and Juan Martín del Potro share a hug as Novak arrives for Delpo’s farewell match in Buenos Aires. So many great moments between these two legends. One last time.”

Djokovic couldn’t help sharing the moment on social media himself. Taking to his Instagram, he posted a series of pictures with the Argentinean star, as he wrote “Argentina querida acá estoy 🇦🇷 🫶🏼” which translates to “Dear Argentina, here I am.” And of course, while Djokovic is there to support his friend on his farewell, his wife is gushing about his photos. Jelena wrote in the comments, “Amooooreeeee 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️” highlighting the adoration she has for her husband and his friendship with Del Potro.

If, for one, two, or three hours, I can be at peace and happy on a tennis court, it will be beautiful.”

In a twist of fate, it was Botafogo who emerged victorious, clinching their first Copa Libertadores title. Djokovic has long been vocal about his love for soccer; in a previous interview, he stated, “I’m a big fan of Milan and I’ll always be. For me, football is second only [to] tennis. My father was a professional footballer and at home, we always watch the Rossoneri’s games with great interest.”

Amid his interest in other sports, tennis remains at the forefront of Djokovic’s ambitions as he eyes that coveted 100th title. Now he’s gearing up for the 2025 season with Andy Murray as his coach. Do you think Djokovic surprises us all in the upcoming year? Share your thoughts in the comments!
