Andy Murray hanging up his racket at the Paris Olympics is the end of an era in tennis. However, following that, he dropped a hilarious retirement tweet that has now gone viral. Even Novak Djokovic‘s wife, Jelena, has come forward to react to the British player’s sarcastic tweet after retiring.

The Brit paired with Dan Evans in the doubles tournament after withdrawing from the singles competition to recuperate from his past surgery. The duo prevailed in two rounds, spectacularly preserving numerous match points in each, raising expectations for Murray’s spectacular career to come to a stunning close.

In a hilarious tweet on his official X account, the 37-year-old tennis player decided to end his career in style and left his followers in stitches. Murray joked about his retirement with his trademark sardonic humor, tweeting, “Never even liked tennis anyway.” This lighthearted farewell post perfectly encapsulated Murray’s personality and left fans reminiscing about his remarkable career and infectious humor.

Looking into that, the 24-time Grand Slam champion’s wife, was one of the first ones to comment on the post, and wrote, “Yeah. We could tell.” Moreover, Murray further amused his followers by updating his bio to “I played tennis.” Against the Americans, Murray and Evans averted another match point on Thursday in an exciting battle at Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

But the story ended when Evans mishandled the shot, handing Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz the victory and killing Murray’s hopes of winning a fourth Olympic medal. After that, he finished the post-match press conference by saying that, although he had hoped to win the medal, he was happy with the way things turned out.

Murray  stated, “Obviously, it’s not the perfect ending. It would have been amazing to have won a medal. But I feel good. I’m happy with how it’s finished. I’m glad that I got to go out here at the Olympics and finish on my terms, because at times in the last few years, that wasn’t a certainty.” Not only that, even the Serbian tennis player shared a heartfelt message for his friend and rival Murray, as he retired from the tennis circuit.
