Despite being in his late 30s, Novak Djokovic enjoyed yet another remarkable tennis season in 2023 after winning three major titles. The Serbian tennis player only missed out on a single Grand Slam out of a possible four, following his title-winning runs in Melbourne, Paris, and New York. However, despite his sheer dominance in this tennis calendar, the ‘Djoker’ still has some work to do, according to the Spanish tennis veteran Àlex Corretja’s recent assertions.

In a recent conversation, the 49-year-old talked about the Serb’s chances of winning the Golden Slam in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Corretja also issued a ‘very dangerous’ warning to the 24-time singles Grand Slam champion as he gears up for the next tennis calendar.

In a recent interview with Eurosport, Àlex Corretja opened up about how he believes that the 36-year-old player is going to keep on winning major titles. However, the former tennis pro asserted that it’s going to be ‘tougher and tougher’ for Djokovic as he shed light on his recent defeats against the younger generation on the men’s tour.

Emphasizing his Davis Cup defeat against Jannik Sinner, Corretja said that it ‘might be good’ for the 24-time singles Grand Slam champion. He stated, “It’s a wake-up call to say, ‘okay, I’m doing unbelievably, but I can’t relax for one second because some of the guys behind me, are going to push me so much. They’re very dangerous and they know they can beat me now.’”

Despite enjoying yet another stellar season, the tennis veteran claimed that the ‘Djoker’ needs to be wary of the young big guns on the tour. In the process, Corretja also opened up about how he feels that the Serb’s fitness levels might not be the same in the upcoming season.
