Novak Djokovic is continuing to amaze the world with his physical prowess. At 36, the Djoker is as fit as a teenager and perhaps even more, as none of the current stars are close to getting the better of him. With age, the Serb’s hunger to bag more glory is also rocketing, and he is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for the Davis Cup final matches. Djokovic has focused only on singles, and doubles matches haven’t been kind to him from the beginning of his career. Despite that, the unwavering determination of the Serb encouraged him to play doubles at the Rolex Paris Masters.

Djokovic paired with his compatriot Miomir Kecmanović and won their first match at the tournament. Just when fans got to witness Djoker’s doubles skills in its total capacity, a disappointing update shook everyone.

The Serb clarified that winning the Davis Cup for his country is his next big goal after his 24th Slam. Though the Djoker is unbeatable in singles, he needs his doubles game to be at a similar level to win the ‘World Cup of Tennis’ for Serbia. So, he made Paris his practice pitch and Kecmanović his doubles partner.

The Serbian duo had to face the duo of India’s Rohan Bopanna and Australia’s Matthew Ebden. But Djoker and Kecmanović withdrew from the tournament after playing just one match. A tennis update page on X confirmed the news: “Djokovic and Kecmanovic *withdraw* from the doubles. Not surprising, given how good Novak looked today.”

The reason behind the decision is still unclear, as no official statement was made by either Djokovic or his compatriot. Fans enjoyed the Serbian duo’s doubles action in their first game and loved the action-packed performance. Their first doubles win at Paris left netizens anticipating more. But the news of the withdrawal did not break out till the last minute.

Since it was a rare sight to witness Nole in doubles, the audience savored each moment and even suspected that Djoker had a trick up his sleeve. Though the withdrawal is garnering mixed reactions, the first doubles win of Djoker in ages felt like a warm hug and fans embraced it dearly.

Djoker’s brief doubles participation captivated the tennis world

Tennis fans and Serbians have put their faith in Djokovic to win the Davis Cup for Serbia. Since the World No.1 is hunting trophies like never before, Nole is Serbia’s major hope to make the country proud. After the Serbian duo defeated Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Gonzalo Escobar, confidence ran high in Djoker and his fans to bag the Davis Cup and an Olympic medal.

A fan tweeted that Djoker is aiming for the Olympic Gold as he wrote, “coming for that gold medal.”

Another user praised the well-coordinated gameplay by writing, “Both played so well.Novak serving, returning, volleying and Miomir with some great returns.”

A user predicted that Djoker was only warming up for the bigger tournaments ahead. He wrote, “Doubles? He is clearly only there as a warm up.”

A Djoker fan took a dig at his outfit but was confident that the Serb would win all his matches, eyes closed. The comment read, This guy is the tennis. But man they could not have made an uglier fit for him… He will still win the whole thing with his eyes closed tho.”

Djokovic shall likely play with the 24-year-old as his doubles partner in the Davis Cup, too. Though they only secured one recent win, it was enough to boost their morale, considering Nole’s incredible form. To achieve his dream of winning the World Cup of Tennis and an Olympic Gold, Djoker needs to refrain from straining himself. The Serbian legend is committed to delivering the best, and more surprises are in store for the tennis community in the upcoming days.
