In a recent interview, the young tennis star Carlos Alcaraz expressed his eagerness to face Novak Djokovic in Australia. Being unhindered even after being exposed to the Serbian’s amazing track record at the Australian Open, Alcaraz continues to keep his calm.

“I’m an ambitious guy. I always want to play against the best players in the world to see what is my level. Playing against him in the places or in the tournament that he’s almost unbeaten is a good test,” Alcaraz stated. Despite Djokovic’s near-invincibility on the court, the 20-year-old proved that he is still fueled with enthusiasm to push his limits.

Instead of being nervous about facing the legendary tennis figure, the young Spaniard saw it as an opportunity as he mentioned, “Knowing those stats, it’s an extra motivation, for sure.” As the tournament is about to begin soon enough, the levels of his motivation will have to go through a tough test.

Andy Murray highlights a challenge for Alcaraz

Amid the discussions of who is more likely to take on this year’s grand slams, tennis star Andy Murray shared his perspective too. Emphasizing Alcaraz’s US Open 2022 victory over Casper Ruud, Murray said that it will be a completely different scenario while going against Djokovic.

“Alcaraz was in that position going into Wimbledon where he had won a major already and that was against Casper [Ruud] who had also never won one. Not easy when you’re trying to win your first and you’re playing against the guy who’s won 24 and 10 times. It’s a very different mentality I think,” he said. As the young Spaniard is currently in between a pack of mixed expectations, his fate still remains to be witnessed.
