Novak Djokovic doesn’t seem to stop, does he? The Serbian legend kept his dream of winning the 25th Grand Slam title alive at the Australian Open by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in an enthralling quarterfinal battle. Despite a poor start and losing the first set, Djokovic came back strongly to emerge triumphant. Djokovic’s match was scheduled last at the Rod Laver Arena in the night session. As a result, it went beyond midnight, something which is a common feature at the tournament. After the match, Djokovic was involved in a hilarious moment with his family due to the late-night fixture.
Djokovic’s family has traveled to Melbourne to support him in the tournament. Interestingly, his kids, Stefan and Tara were also present to witness his battle against Alcaraz. Although the match went into midnight, his children stayed up and cheered for him all throughout the match. During the post-match interview, Djokovic pointed to his kids and said, “Thanks for supporting but It’s 1 am guys…when are you gonna sleep?” After hearing this, his daughter, Tara couldn’t stop smiling despite feeling sleepy. Her reaction went viral on social media, with her innocent face melting fans’ hearts.

While Djokovic has achieved a lot of success in the Australian Open, his family isn’t much familiar to the place, having traveled to the tournament for the first time. Ahead of the tournament, he said, “This is the first time my family comes with me, my children, my wife [to Australia].” Moreover, his team has also been trying to avoid Djokovic’s children getting more exposure on camera. During the match, one of the team members covered the camera lens in the player’s box with a piece of cloth. However, Tara’s adorable reaction after Djokovic asked them about sleeping time became a talking point on the internet.

Hardships of traveling alone for Novak Djokovic
Amid a hectic tour, players have to travel all over the world to play in the tournaments. While family members can travel to some tournaments, it becomes difficult for them to travel with the player for every single tournament. Djokovic’s fate was no different and it was just the first time that his family visited Australia with him.

Ahead of the tournament, Djokovic stated, “It allows me, first of all, to not feel the guilt that I’m so far away for such a long time. I’ve been feeling that, I must admit, when I would travel to Australia in the previous years, I would be away for four or five weeks. Every time you have to separate with your kids and your wife, there’s a lot of tears involved. It’s not easy. Then you start to question yourself. Why do I have to do it over and over again? This makes it so much easier for me, obviously knowing going back home now they’re going to be there waiting for me. I’m more motivated.”
After a morale-boosting win over Alcaraz, Djokovic will face Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. Can the Serb win a record 25th major title at the ongoing Australian Open? Let us know your views in the comments below.
