One of the most significant moments in recent times is truly the partnership between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. This collaboration has not only delighted the fraternity but also intrigued many, with some hoping that the Serb could win more Grand Slams with the guidance of his old friend. Adding to the fraternity’s optimism about this partnership, a former British pro, Tim Henman offers a surprising yet positive thought, highlighting why he believes this collaboration could work exceptionally well for the former ATP number one.
Henman had an interesting take on Andy Murray’s partnership with Novak Djokovic. It has only been a month since Djokovic introduced his longtime friend and rival Andy Murray as his coach for the Melbourne Major.
“We played each other since we were boys. Twenty-five years of being rivals, of pushing each other beyond our limits, We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. They called us game changers, risk takers, history makers. I thought our story may be over. It turns out, it has one final chapter. It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board coach Andy Murray,” wrote Djokovic on his social media welcoming the Briton. Djokovic-Murray partnership has delighted the fraternity exceeding the Serb’s chance for another Major. The list included many renowned tennis personalities including Tim Henman who expressed a great surprise about the collaboration.“I was a little bit surprised from Andy’s point of view” 😲

“I was a little surprised from Andy’s point of view. Having only just retired in August that he’s going to be back on tour. It will be interesting to see how long that partnership lasts for. I’m guessing it’s just the off-season and then the Australian Open. Then we will see how it really goes from there,” said Henman. His statement highlighted his eagerness to see how well this partnership works out for Djokovic. This Briton legend added, “I think from Djokovic’s point of view, it is probably a smart move. Andy knows all the opponents that Djokovic is going to be up against. Andy has always been a great tactician and has always been very good strategically. So, it’s another interesting element to watch out for.”
Same as Henman’s tune, five-times Doubles Grand Slam champion Nicolas Mahut expressed great potential in the Murray-Djokovic partnership. Reflecting on his pessimism about Djokovic’s career, Mahut suggested that this partnership renewed his hope about the Serb’s chances of winning more major titles.

In an interview with Eurosport, Mahut said things that surprised everyone. He reflected on his previous thoughts and mentioned he had no hope for the Serb’s victory at any major tournaments. “I was quite pessimistic. I didn’t see him winning a Grand Slam in 2025. I honestly thought his career was winding down,” he said. However, Mahut then brought up Andy Murray’s collaboration aspect and revealed how this partnership changed his entire thoughts. “Taking Andy, who was his rival for years and has known him since they were kids, is a very clever move, t will give him a little boost—he’ll want to excel. I truly feel we’re about to witness a super Novak,” said Mahut expressing optimism.
