Two of the best tennis players of the current era are all set to take on each other in a high-stakes match at the QF of the 2025 AO. On one side, the 10-time AO champion, Novak Djokovic is determined to prove a point to his naysayers after failing to clinch a Grand Slam title in the 2024 season. On the other side, the young Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz is keen to seal his first victory against the Serb on hard courts. Novak Djokovic is already a superstar in the tennis world, while Carlos Alcaraz is steadily climbing up the ladders. Both of them have secured a lot of sponsorship deals in the last few years with their incredible performances. Can Alcaraz ever surpass Djokovic in that?

Carlos Alcaraz has been sponsored by Nike since 2019. According to various reports, his latest extension was signed before he won his first French Open title. This tie-up is due to run until 2025. Nike has also made a decision to create a dedicated logo for Alcaraz, and that’s quite similar to what they’ve done previously for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Apart from Nike, Alcaraz’s endorsement portfolio includes deals with BMW, Calvin Klein, Babolat, Louis Vuitton, and many other renowned brands. He signed for Babolat at the age of just 13 and throughout the years his Grand Slam success has also attracted some bumper deals that have raised his profile.

His current net worth is $20 million (as of July 2024). Where does this four-time Grand Slam champion stand in comparison to the 24-time Grand Slam champion when it comes to earnings and sponsorship deals? Well, Novak Djokovic‘s current net worth is around $240 million! On the court, Djokovic is outfitted in Lacoste apparel, uses Head rackets, and wears custom shoes made by the renowned shoemaking brand ASICS. He has sponsorship deals with other big brands like, Hublot, Lemero, NetJets, Peugeot, Raiffeisen Bank International, and Ultimate Software Group.

In 2024, the Serb even signed up for another major business partnership after agreeing on a multi-year deal with hospitality giant, Aman. If we compare their on-court earnings, Novak Djokovic has earned a staggering $185,541,164 so far as prize money. While Carlos Alcaraz has earned $37,854,976. However, Alcaraz has earned an estimated $45 million over the last 12 months and, i.e. $6 million more than Novak Djokovic ($38.7 million). If Carlos Alcaraz goes at this rate, then he will definitely surpass Novak Djokovic in the near future.

Now, switching from their off-court tussle to the on-court. Speaking this matchup, American tennis legend, Andy Roddick said, “I just can’t wait for this matchup. I can’t wait to see the problem-solving. It’s basically ‘how do I keep the right hand of Carlos at bay’ if you’re Novak, right? This punch-out power of the forehand side, the brilliance where it’s like ‘I can run up the scoreboard very quickly’. It’s like holding a crazy good offense in the NFL, slowing the game, running out the clock, all of these things.

Then the former Wimbledon champion, Pat Cash went a step ahead and made a prediction. He said, “Novak has been playing well but he’s going to have to raise his game. On this form, Alcaraz will win the match, but champions do raise their level and we’ve seen that from Djokovic time and time again.” What do both the players have to say about this epic encounter in the QF?
