On the other hand, Serbia’s Nikola Jokic led the country towards bronze by defeating Germany (98-83). Jokic’s brilliance brought Serbia its third Olympic medal in the City of Love. After such brilliance by their two famous athletes, the Serbian administration decided to felicitate them today at their famous ‘Balcony’. Reliable Djokovic fan page Novak Weekly Podcast tweeted about the news. “BREAKING: Serbian Olympic medalists to have a reception on the famous ‘Balcony’ tomorrow at 8PM CET. Now, Djokovic’s gold medal-winning moment was special for both the Serb and his country. Earning a medal while representing one’s country is not a matter of joke. Post-victory, the Serb said, “I could never give up on the dream of winning this gold medal, just as the people of Serbia have never given up on me. Together, we believed in the impossible. While I may be the one holding this medal, I want every Serbian to know that it belongs to all of us.”

Djokovic’s statement screamed his dedication to his country. Not only did he show what he is capable of at 37 but he never gave up on his dream to make his country proud. While Djokovic had a humble victory moment in Paris, Jokic had quite a controversial presence during the medal ceremony.

Jokic earned his second Olympic medal in Paris. Before the bronze, he received a silver after losing against Team USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics finals. In Paris, Jokic made an impressive run with 18.8 points, 8.7 assists, 10.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. After defeating Germany, the Serbian basketball team indulged in a wild celebration. Despite having an eight-hour window for celebration, Jokic’s team had quite a big celebration, and it was spotted when the former attended the medal ceremony drunk. In a fan-shared video on X, Jokic was spotted in trouble standing on the podium and losing his balance. Keeping aside the fun, Jokic’s drunk presence stirred some controversies and shed light on the celebrations of the athletes post-victory.

Serbia’s decision to felicitate Djokovic and Jokic in Belgrade has received unanimous approval from the people. After Djokovic’s sheer brilliance and Jokic’s ability to bind Team Serbia with unanimous love, they surely deserve much applause and national recognition from their country.
