Jannik Sinner gave tennis fans a delightful surprise as he lifted his first-ever grand slam title in the finals of the Australian Open 2024 against Daniil Medvedev. Despite losing in the first 2 sets of the match to Medvedev, Jannik Sinner came back stronger as he won the next 2 sets straight against his opponent.
After winning his first grand slam, he was obviously over the top excited and happy. But others joined in his moment of success including some of the most renowned names in the sport of tennis.

Winning a first-ever Grand Slam is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling. And that is why pro tennis players sent Jannik Sinner best wishes through social media. Rafael Nadal posted a story on his official Instagram for Sinner, “Wow congratulations Jan. Spectacular tournament. What a great win for you, your team, your family, and your country. Italia.”

Such wishes coming from a legend himself of course mean a lot to Sinner. World number 1 Novak Djokovic, whom Sinner retired in a major upset, also had words of congrats, “Bravo Jannik. Well deserved. Congratulations to your family and team.” Djokovic also posted a picture of Sinner along with these heartful wishes for the grand slam winner.
Coco Gauff and Stan Wawrinka also complimented the 22-year-old on their official Instagram stories with a picture of him. They were truly very excited for him, and Wawrinka also mentioned, “Grande”, in the photo on his story.
One of the most important reactions came from former tennis player Billie Jean King who wrote, “Congratulations to Jannik Sinner on his very first grand slam title. Bravo”, on her Instagram story. It seemed like everyone felt a part of his big success today.
This win is not only special because he won the first grand slam of his career but also because he achieved something that has not been achieved by any other player in a decade.

Since 2014, that is 10 years, no one in the men’s singles tennis has won the title of the Australian Open outside the Big 3. It has always been Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Novak Djokovic. But the history changed today as Jannik Sinner won the title.
