From the seed of a dream, the Big Three ascended to dizzying heights. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic—the trio that made things ordinary to extraordinary. But now, as time has grown, the status of the trio in the sporting world has changed. 26-year-old Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev opened up about how the big three always took center stage with their skills in the sporting arena.

Whether it be Federer or Djokovic, the big three players have always added new dimensions to the sport, bringing a comparative edge to the game. Well, that was not it; he also talked about how they proved everyone wrong by being unbeatable and rising out of obscurity.

In the current scenario, not all the players from the Big Three are present on the tennis circuit. While the 42-year-old tennis legend, Federer, has retired from the sport, Djokovic and Nadal are still out there, giving tough competition to the other players. After a break, now that the Spaniard is getting ready to make a comeback in the upcoming year, Rublev recently showed confidence in Nadal’s comeback, sharing an important reminder regarding how they have done their best on the court.

He said, “We don’t know yet where his level will be at, but how many times people would say, not just about Rafa, about all those three players, every time they were injured or down & losing matches everybody was saying, ‘Now the time of Roger or time of Rafa or time of Novak, is coming to an end.’

Along with that, he also highlighted that no one should forget how the three have always risen to the occasion and created a position for themselves as tennis players at the end of the day whenever people predicted the end of their careers.

Further, he added, “And they always proved them wrong. So I will not be surprised if Rafa will prove it again & wins more Slams.” But do you know that the rise of the big three at the very beginning of their careers somewhere down the line created a lot of problems for tennis veteran Pete Sampras?

Pete Sampras got overshadowed by the big three

In Pete Sampras: Greatness Revisited biography, Andy Murray‘s ex-coach Lendl, opened up about the popularity of the big 3, it was Sampras whose achievements were overlooked for a long time. He stated, “Pete got a little bit cheated by history with these three guys coming along when they did. Because of Rafa, Roger, and Novak, nobody is talking about Pete.”

In addition, he also talked about how the 52-year-old American tennis legend could have been ‘the man’ for a longer time if the big three had entered the court a bit late. And subsequently, because of Rafa, Novak, and Roger, nobody talked about him in the way he wanted. Even though he was quite good at his game, the way the spotlight shifted prevented him from dominating the court for a longer period.
