With his sheer brilliance on the court, Juan Carlos Ferrero solidified his position in the top echelons during his heyday. While tasting Grand Slam success on the tour, the Spanish tennis veteran also attained the world No. 1 ranking in 2003. Even after his retirement, the 43-year-old has managed to remain a popular figure in the tennis realm, albeit as a coach. Under Ferrero’s tutelage, his young compatriot Carlos Alcaraz has now become a formidable competitor on the men’s circuit. Emphasizing the same, Novak Djokovic lauded the 20-year-old player’s coach for shaping him into a mature player.

Since entering the top tier of the men’s tennis circuit, Alcaraz has gone from strength to strength. From winning the 2022 US Open in the absence of Djokovic to defeating the 24-time Grand Slam champion in the Wimbledon Championships this year, the Spaniard has established himself as the biggest rival to the Serb. Now, the Djoker has given Alcaraz’s team, especially his coach, their due credit!

At the mere age of 20, Alcaraz possesses a champion mentality that has helped him clinch two major singles titles. Notably, the ‘Djoker’ went on to hail Ferrero for the young Spaniard’s success and immense progress. He said, “Thanks to Juan Carlos and his family’s upbringing, he is more mature than his age suggests.”

The Serb further opened up about how the Spanish coach has managed to shape Alcaraz into a mature player at the age of 20. Djokovic added, “He is only 20 years old, but on the track he behaves like someone who has a lot of experience and maturity.”

The Serb’s major assertions about Ferrero are quite justified given the number of phenomenal title-winning runs secured by Alcaraz at such a young age.
