Wimbledon Championship will kick start from tomorrow. With the Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic, all set to defend his title this year, he answered a very important question regarding the US Open during his pre-tournament press conference.
Although the tournament was surrounded by controversies because of its decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players this year, the tournament still has a huge fan following.

Novak Djokovic on vaccination
The 20-time Grand Slam champion was in phenomenal form throughout the 2021 season. He came close to achieving the calendar Grand slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. Although he lost to Daniil Medvedev in the final, the Serb did well in the US open as well.
However, the 35-year-old was unable to translate the same form in 2022. A major factor behind that was his stand against covid-19 vaccination. Earlier this year, he had to leave Australia because of the same reason and missed out on a major chunk of the tour in America.
Addressing the media before Wimbledon 2022, a reporter asked about his plans for the US Open this year. The reporter reminded that there’s still some time left to get himself vaccinated to make it in time for the US Open. Further, asking him if he has completely made up his mind on not getting vaccinated. Djokovic smiled and said, ‘Yes’.

The Serb never holds back from expressing his opinion and that sometimes lands him in controversies. The 35-year-old has always been publically vocal on his stand against vaccination. Now that he has made it clear again, there’s a high possibility of him missing out on the US Open later this year.
