On a similar note, Daniil Medvedev recently got indulged in a mishappening on the court. During a match at the Vienna Open, the 27-year-old accidentally hit the ball on a spectator’s face. The incident was not intentional by any means, and Medvedev directly went to the fan to check if he was alright. The authorities decided to give a green signal to proceed with the match and not raise the issue any further. However, fans weren’t satisfied as they smelt unfairness. They highlighted a similar incident by Novak Djokovic at the 2020 US Open, which did not turn out to be so positive.

As Daniil Medvedev’s Vienna Open incident caught air, fans rained their wrath on social media. The concern lay upon the fact that Novak Djokovic, who happened to hit the line judge accidentally back in 2020, was directly removed from the tournament and also had to pay a penalty of nearly $267,500 in all. The fans, getting restless because of their love for the Serbian legend, took the situation as an act of inequality.

A fan, comparing Djokovic’s incident to the one that happened with Denis Shapovalov, said, “Shapovalov was fined $ 7, 000 US for breaking an umpire’s eye socket.” 

Another fan reaction, targeted directly towards pointing the wrong decision taken by authorities, said, “When they want to destroy someone, they do it thoroughly and in all possible ways.”

Another fan, predicting the unexpected events that can be triggered because of incidents like these, said, “It’s shows how corrupted the western establishment is and how they’ve been corrupting the sports organisations in general. This will lead to division of sports and creation of parallel organisations.” 

As the trail of comments kept growing, a fan compared two opposite incidents, both concluding against the Serbian star. He mentioned, “They fined Djokovic for not attending a presser where many accredited reporters had already unfairly slammed him on social media. They never fined journos for falsely attacking Novak.”

Another fan, laying a short and crisp response that resembled all other comments, said, “Painful to watch……it was so unjust.”

As the fans compared the two situations between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, the unjust decision by the authorities filled up fans with rage. While the situation straightaway highlighted the event that occurred in 2020, there are many similar tales of imposing fines on tennis players because of their misconduct on the court.
