Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis ace, has been trying to get his tennis association up to the forefront for several years now. The former world no.1 shared that he has faced major resistance from the governing bodies in an exclusive conference. However, he claims that there is a lot of support from other players for him and his cause.
Djokovic believes that the governing bodies are against his players’ association. His association, PTPA, is run by players, not by the ATP or WTA. The idea is to create a platform for players to voice their concerns and have their voices heard on issues that affect them as professionals.

Vasek Pospisil and Novak Djokovic established the Professional Tennis Players Association to make sure that all professional tennis players were fully represented. The PTPA, in Djokovic’s opinion, is very crucial. However, the bodies that regulate the sport do not pay attention to the group’s concerns.
Djokovic lambasted the ATP last spring for denying the PTPA access to meetings regarding the ongoing conflict between the ATP, WTA Tours, and Wimbledon over their decision to exclude Russian and Belarusian players.
Recently, in the Adelaide International press conference claimed that there are a lot of legal challenges along the way. He shared that they will eventually overcome all those challenges, and they are gathering the right team of people with advisory boards.
Djokovic added, “I think is very important as we were not accepted and embraced by Grand Slams, ATP, so it makes things difficult for us, but this association needs to live. It needs to be there because players don’t have 100 percent representation in the tennis world, unfortunately.” Djokovic chimed that with the PTPA, the players can have that representation. He hopes that more players will be showing the willingness to understand what PTPA can do for them.

The association aims to raise the players so that athletes can help themselves develop as human beings outside of tennis. Djokovic believes that the governing bodies are not allowing his association to flourish because it threatens their dominance.
The Nole had once tweeted his excitement for the association
Djokovic is still up in arms despite all the setbacks he has experienced thus far. Through the PTPA, tennis players from all around the world are uniting and mobilizing. They desire to make professional tennis decisions that are more fair and transparent. He had once shared his excitement about the organization’s first meet.
