Novak Djokovic-Backed Serbian Phenom Sets up ‘Special Pre-Season’ as He Aims to Reach the Next Level

Novak Djokovic is often painted as a controversial player. However, the tennis world doesn’t usually focus on his charitable side. The Djoker has worked hard to become one of the greatest and is now helping other youngsters rise to his level. He is currently helping the winner of the ATP Next Gen Finals, Hamad Medjedovic, financially. But Djokovic is shifting into a new gear as he plans to train with Medjedovic for the 2024 season.

When Djokovic decided to take care of Medjedovic’s finances, many were shocked, but none more so than his father. In a prior interview, he explained the call that took place between him and the Djoker, which eventually led to the current situation.

The Next Gen ATP Finals is a tournament for the next generation of tennis stars. The best players who were 21 and younger battled, but Hamad Medjedovic was the only one who could win. His victory shows his signs of improvement and that he is ready for the next stage. Now, he is set to train with Djokovic for three weeks in Dubai before both players kickstart 2024.

His coach told Punto De Break, “Our main objective during this pre-season will be to prepare him physically so that he can withstand tough games day after day. We will also work to keep him calm in key moments. As for tennis, I don’t see many weak points in his game. I don’t want him to rush, but wait for the right opportunity to use the immense power of his punches. I’m sure the time with Novak will mean a lot to Hamad.”

Viktor Troicki has been key in making sure Medjedovic realizes his potential. He also has the help of the 24-time grand slam champion to ensure he comes out on top. The Djoker was quite charitable when he shared his wish to help Medjedovic and also celebrated when he won the year-end tournament for youngsters.

With the Djoker handling his finances and a great team on top of him, the 20-year-old Serbian was bound to go big. In the Next Gen ATP Finals, he reached the last match undefeated and would go on to win the tournament. The fruits of his labor were delivered to him in a sweet victory that also saw a beaming celebration from Djokovic himself.

After his win, Djokovic shared the news of his victory on his Instagram story and wrote, “Hameee!! Idemooo!!”. The Djoker was ecstatic when the 20-year-old won the tournament and further set up training with him. Going forth, Medjedovic will be the player to watch out for.
