Ever since the conclusion of the 2020 calendar year, we’ve seen plenty of stats come our way. A lot of metrics are calculated in the modern game that allow fans to get more detailed information about their favorite players.

This particular statistic that we’re about to unfold is not an advanced metric. It would simply convey the players who committed the most double faults in 2020. This list is something the athletes wouldn’t be keen on topping!

Here’s the catch when it comes to the Top-10 list of the players with the most double faults committed in 2020; Alexander Zverev (211) leads the list, while Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic made 137 double-faults during the 2020 ATP season. (Stats obtained via UTS).

As mentioned above, Zverev would not be too happy that he topped this particular list. The German is a dominant server but struggled to maintain consistency, which often broke his confidence.

Alexander Zverev ranked 1st, and Novak Djokovic finished 6th. The others who stole the places in between them were Denis Shapovalov (189), Felix Auger Aliassime (175), Benoit Paire (151), and Alexander Bublik (142).

Almost every sport is driven by statistics. The modern era uses analytics to majorly modify an athlete’s game, and tennis is no different.

As far as this topic is concerned, a deeper analysis can be made into the double fault aspect of Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev’s game.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic amassed 4 titles in 2020, of which one was a Grand Slam. The Serbian didn’t have the perfect year in terms of titles, but he went on an incredible unbeaten run. Djokovic played a total of 46 matches in 2020 and won 41 of them.

Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev boasts of a dominant serve just like Djokovic. But it will trouble the opponent only as long as it is legal. The German committed an astonishing 5.7 DF’s per match and 1.94 per set.
