Rafael Nadal put all pregnancy rumors to bed by announcing that he will be a father after confirming that his wife Maria Perello is expecting their first child. The newly crowned Roland Garros champion will now switch his focus to the grass courts of Wimbledon later this month.

Nadal, who got married to Perello in 2019 has always kept his private life away from the spotlight. The pregnancy rumors arose after Maria was spotted with a baby bump while on holiday with Nadal.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner was part of a press-conference in Mallorca, Spain. Responding to a question about the pregnancy talk he says, “If all goes well, I’m going to be a father.”

“I’m not used to talking about my private life. We live calmer with a lower profile. I don’t expect that my life will change much with it,” he added. Perello, a former insurance worker, is now the Project Director of the Rafael Nadal Foundation.
Nadal is currently in sensational form winning the first two Grand Slams of the year. Additionally, he has also confirmed his participation for Wimbledon after undergoing treatment on his foot. Meanwhile, World No. 2 Alexander Zverev will be absent due to the painful injury suffered in the semi-finals against Nadal in Paris.

Will Nadal continue his form at Wimbledon?
The 2-time Wimbledon champion will make his return to the All-England Club. Nadal has won the tournament at SW19 back in 2008 and 2010. However, after recovering from different injuries in recent past, Nadal will have to do the unthinkable to secure a sensational third title.

“My intention is to play Wimbledon. I have trained well this week and my departure on Monday for London is to that effect,” said Nadal in the press-conference. The 14-time Roland Garros winner will return to the Championships for the first time since his memorable semi-final against Roger Federer in 2019.
