Taylor Fritz is one to never shy away from diving deeper into trending fashion. In mid-October, ahead of the Rolex Paris Masters, Fritz stunned everyone with his blonde look as he took the stage at DJ Kygo’s show at the Hollywood Bowl. However, this Tuesday, “We’re so back,” the world No. 6 wrote in a post on his Instagram story showcasing his return to dark tresses. But what made him revert back all of a sudden?
In an interaction with Tennis TV, dated November 8th, the World No.6 revealed the real reason for going back to brown hair. He mentioned that initially he was excited to try the blonde look. “So, ok let me explain. I actually, the first like week I had it, I genuinely really liked it. I thought it looked good.” But something wasn’t right with his experimental look.
It was due to the fact that he “didn’t realize like how much maintenance it actually requires to have the (blonde) hair, so I wasn’t really taking care of it because I don’t normally have to take care of my hair. And then parts of it were turning more like yellow and the roots were coming in and it was just not looking good at all.” Eventually, Fritz felt that he wasn’t really enjoying his blonde hair, that took him years to don, as Fritz told the ATP.

“Yeah by the time I got to Paris, I was already like a couple weeks in and I actually went to a salon to see if I could just get it re-dyed and like they could fix the yellow bits and do it right again. And they basically told me they couldn’t do it. And I was like ‘What can you do?’ and they were like ‘Well we could dye it back to brown?’”, he said. In the end, he had no choice but to go back to the original style.

This means fans will see him donning brown hair once again at the ATP Finals. After qualifying for the season finale in Turin, despite losing to Jake Draper 6-7, 6-4, 4-6 in the second round of the Paris Masters, Fritz will look to make the most of his second appearance in the Finals; he made his debut in 2022.

“Super aggressive from the baseline, tough to get him on defence because a lot of his defence is playing big out of the corners, almost playing offence. He’s improved his serve so much, massive improvement. He’s become a very good server.” This revelation, however, comes at a time when Taylor will also look to take revenge from the World No.1.
For those unaware, the two players have already faced each other this year during the US Open final in September. Their battle at the Flushing Meadows saw Sinner getting the better of Taylor Fritz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Do you think the latter will be able to settle the scores against Jannik in Turin?
