‘Not Like a Grinder..’ – Daniil Medvedev Remains Mighty Impressed With Nick Kyrgios’ Spirited US Open Effort as He Makes a Huge Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic Claim

Nick Kyrgios is currently riding high on the form. At first, he stormed the grass court in London and now is playing as a potential contender at the US Open. Kyrgios on Monday, took down the World no.1 and defending champion, Daniil Medvedev, to reach the last eight.

The Australian tennis professional has not only wowed the fans but also impressed his opponents. As the Russian, during the post-match conference gave an honest review of the skills he is showing nowadays.

Medvedev praises Nick Kyrgios’ gameplay

The 2022 Australian Open runner-up while addressing the media spoke about Kyrgios’ caliber and made a noteworthy comparison. He said, “It was a high-level match. I’ve played Novak, Rafa. They all play amazing. Nick today played kind of their level, in my opinion.”

Thereafter Medvedev added, “He has a little bit of a different game because he’s not like a grinder in a way. At the same time he can rally. He’s tough to play. He has an amazing serve.”

“If he plays like this till end of the tournament, he has all the chances to win it.” The Aussie, after struggling to win the first set and losing the second, slipped the match entirely out of the Los Cabos Open champion’s hands. This was the fifth time, Kyrgios locked horns with the 26-year-old, and with a 7-6 (11) 3-6 6-3 6-2 win he furthered his lead in head-to-head records to 4-1.

The former World no.13  has entered the second week of the last Grand Slam of this season by asserting sheer dominance over his opponents. Therefore, now the World no.1 slayer must be eyeing an easy win against his quarterfinals opponents.

Kyrgios will now square off with the 2018 Paris Open champion, Karen Khachanov. He will meet the Russian tennis professional for the third time on the hard courts of America. Having the head-to-head tied at 1 victory each, both the players will try to take a lead and advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
