Alexander Zverev pulled off a sensational victory against Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the 2021 Nitto ATP Finals. In an enthralling contest, he completed outcast the Serb in a three-setter. In the post-match interview, the German praised the World No.1 despite defeating him.

Alexander Zverev regards Novak Djokovic as GOAT

For the second time in the year, the World No. 2, Alexander Zverev decoded Novak Djokovic’s master game. Both the players played at the highest level; however, Zverev was a bit better than the Serb.

It took 2 hours and 29 minutes for Zverev to triumph over Djokovic in front of a lively crowd. Hitting with more depth, World No. 3 won the pivotal points of the match. Moreover, he also denied Djokovic a crucial set point in the first set. Just after the match, in an interview, Zverev hailed the Serb.

He said, “For me, there is nobody in the world that should be respected more than Novak, in my opinion. Where he came from, what he has achieved, he is the greatest player of all time, and I think people forget that sometimes. And I think that everybody should appreciate that, for once.”

Zverev defeats Djokovic for the 2nd time this year

Following his win over Djokovic in Turin, Zverev has now defeated the World No. 1 two times this year. Earlier this year, Zverev caused an upset at Tokyo Olympics 2020 after overcoming the Serb in the semi-finals. Coming from one set behind, the German kept his composure to crush Djokovic in 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

It seems like Zverev has started to decipher the perfection of Novak Djokovic. However, at the Grand Slams this year, the World No. 1 triumphed the German on both occasions.
