Among the many rivals that Rafael Nadal has had in his career, Novak Djokovic is probably the biggest one of them all. The two are playing in the upcoming French Open, which could probably be the final time both are in action together at the tournament. As a result, all eyes are on the two as they set out to revive their rivalry. However, ahead of the tournament, fans were surprised to see a wholesome moment between two of the sport’s biggest stars.

Earlier today, Nadal and Djokovic went out on the courts to practice. As Nadal finished his practice session, Djokovic was to follow him. During the change of sessions, Nadal and Djokovic passed by each other and exchanged greetings. In what was a warm meeting, the legendary duo embraced each other, which was a sign of high respect.

The video went viral on social media, and fans were left in awe of their meeting. One of the fans had a suggestion for Nadal and Djokovic’s fan bases, saying,“If only both fandoms can be as cordial.” On the other hand, one Twitter user was completely surprised with the affection shown by the two. The comment read, “Nobody saw this coming so soon. Wow.”

Further, one fan pointed out their rivalry, which ended up with a warm exchange, saying, “The two greatest boilers in history embracing each other.” Subsequently, a section of fans couldn’t take their eyes off the video of Djokovic and Nadal embracing each other. While one fan said, “Things we love to see,” another one commented, “What a sight!”

Recently, there were rumors that Djokovic might be retiring alongside Nadal. Moreover, a tennis insider put fuel to those rumors with logical reasoning.

Earlier this year, Nadal hinted that this season will potentially be his final year on the tour. With Nadal nearing the end of his career, there have also been reports that Djokovic, who is struggling this year, might retire alongside the Spaniard. During the Tennis Channel Inside-In podcast, journalist Chris Clarey opened up about the possibility of this happening.

He said, “Is he somebody we should be thinking his career is ending? No, I don’t believe that but you know if he goes through the whole season and things don’t go his way it’s not unthinkable that we could see Nadal, Murray and Djokovic all by the end of 2024 moving on from tennis, it’s not unthinkable at all.”

Nonetheless, tennis fans would love to see Djokovic and Nadal go head-to-head against each other for one final time regardless if they retire together or not. And what better place for this to happen than the French Open?
