It’s no surprise that Dimitrov would be compared to Federer, given their similar styles of strokes, especially the backhand. However, being compared to one of the greatest tennis players of all time can be a double-edged sword.

Grigor Dimitrov simply thinks that this is a “burden”

Dimitrov has been very open about the pressure he felt early in his career due to the comparisons to Federer. He has spoken about how difficult it was to live up to those expectations and how it affected his performance on the court. Talking about the young players who are just making it pro, he said, “That should be a lesson for every young player who comes into the game. No one should carry such a burden upon his name. I’ll tell you that much.”

As he continues with the topic of the unfair comparison, he says that he is happy to be where he is right now. He also recognized Federer’s greatness, and he confessed that he finds the comparison meaningless. “That was one of the most irrelevant comparisons in my eyes, in my view and I think in everybody’s. And what I am the happiest with is that I made a name for myself.”
