2021 US Open Champion Daniil Medvedev shared his picture, trying to get into a new sport. The caption was “No more Tennis! My training for F1 has officially started” indicating his love for formula 1.
After the heartbroken loss against Rafael Nadal in the 2022 Australian Open Final this was the first direct post from the Russian ace. He was with motorsport driver Alex Albon of the UK and fellow Russian F1 driver Daniil Kvyat.

Albon currently drives for Williams while Kvyat drives as a reserve for the Alpine F1 team. Medvedev shared his day on the training camp and also tried his hand behind the wheels in Go Karting.
Is Daniil Seriously moving away from Tennis?
Though Daniil claims that he is officially training for F1, many of his fans requested him to stay with Tennis. The Chess Master as famously known is into his 8th year of Tennis career and achieved so much in a short period of time.
Daniil Medvedev is currently ranked 2nd in ATP ranking. Having won the 2021 US Open, many slotted him in the favorite category for the 2022 Australian Open. He managed to reach the finals and even won the first 2 sets against World Number 5 Rafael Nadal. But the “El Nino” fought back, defeating the Russian in the following 3 sets.
Lack of fan support and some frustrating events in the inaugural Slam might have given him second thoughts about moving away from Tennis, but it could be just time-out from the sport before preparing for upcoming tournaments.

Multisport talent is very common nowadays. Players do take some time off from their professional sport and engage in other sports for fitness or relaxation.

Swiss international Roger Federer was also involved in playing badminton, football, and basketball. Though he didn’t pursue any of those sports as a profession, it certainly helped him to enhance his coordination.
21-Grand Slam Winner Rafael Nadal was also fond of football and have played in his early years. WTA world number 1 Ashleigh Barty is famous for playing Cricket. She even participated in the Australian Big Bash tournament in 2015, midway through her Tennis Career.

Her fellow Australian and fan-favorite Nick Kyrgios is fond of basketball and does play occasionally. With so many players involved in sports other than their professional game improves their skill sets and maybe Medvedev is also going for the same experiment with F1 training.
