Roger Federer: A better dad or a better businessman? What's your take on his new priorities?

With great success comes even greater responsibilities, and no one knows that better than Roger Federer. The Swiss Maestro, who’s been the epitome of excellence on the tennis courts for decades, is constantly juggling roles—whether it’s as a tennis icon, brand ambassador, or philanthropist. Yet, amidst his busy schedule, Federer never fails to prioritize one thing above all: his family. While he’s conquered every corner of the tennis world, what truly makes Federer stand out is his commitment to being a family man.

The 43-year-old engaged in an interview with Bloomberg Television on September 19 during the ongoing Laver Cup in Berlin, which was founded by the legendary player himself in 2017. Federer reflected upon the tournament and his life in general. He also highlighted how his life is unfolding and where he spends most of his time amidst the series of responsibilities.

When quizzed about where is he spending his time amidst several roles as the co-creator and shareholder of his brand ON and the founder of the Laver Cup, Federer had a heartwarming response. Speaking in the interview, he said, “No day is ever the same. I have four children as well so that takes uh probably the biggest bulk of my time, is making sure I’m a good dad, good husband you know.” Continuing further, Federer revealed that he spends a lot of his time with his four children and wife Mirka at his home in Switzerland. However, this does not let the Swiss Maestro impact his professional roles.

“ON takes a lot of my time making sure we look into the future and see how we can grow the brand and it’s been like an incredible partnership for me as well,” Federer added. He also shared that with the Laver Cup unfolding, he has been experiencing a high-intensity week. Interestingly, Federer’s response about his family highlights the desire and resonates with what he said after hanging up his racquets in 2022.

Speaking at Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show in 2022, Federer shared, “I’m anyway still very busy. I mean, I have four children, and they mean everything to me. So that needs to be my priority with my wonderful wife, Mirka. She’s been with me every step of the way.” As the tennis legend spends a great amount of his time with his family, he also ensures to impart some great education and advice to his children.

Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time and with all his experience on the tour, he always has some amazing advice to share with his children not just about the sport, but life in general. It was revealed by Federer himself when he attended an event organized by the Dartmouth College athletic club in June this year.

During a conversation with the college’s president, Sian Leah Beilock, the tennis legend stated that he often shares life advice with his children which he considers to be extremely important. “I just told my kids last week we were not born to be unhappy, you know, go through life always sad. And always worrying and always fighting, and always complaining,” Federer said while explaining the importance of maintaining a happy spirit.

He further emphasized that living an unhappy life filled with negativity is not a worthwhile pursuit. “I mean that cannot be the idea, that you go through life that way. So I believe very much in a happy spirit,” the Swiss maestro added.

As Federer pursues his business endeavors, his love for the family continues to grow and remains the most important aspect of his life.
