Expressing delight in his new role, Berrettini said, “One of my roles is to inspire the next generation, the youth, the kids.” His words highlighted how his real-life tennis experiences helped him understand the value of teamwork work which he would incorporate into his new role. Berrettini added further, “This goes beyond my tennis career. We want to make tennis bigger and better for everyone, I was lucky enough to have my family behind me, but many players don’t have that opportunity.” This ATP star’s words showcased his objectives with his new role and how he wishes to bring tennis to those who are unprivileged yet have the aspiration. Berrettini’s words echoed his dedication and showcased that he might be the perfect choice for this role. “Together, we build the future of tennis,” is the Italian ATP star’s motto.
However, this isn’t Italian’s first time doing something for people. He has always been vocal about the truth and supported what he finds appropriate for society. During his Davis Cup performance in Malaga this year, Berrettini attracted spotlight for supporting the NoExcuse campaign that aimed to raise awareness about all kinds of violence against women.
Matteo Berrettini revealed why he supported the NoExcuse campaign
The exclusive campaign was started by Italian Politician Mara Carfagna. Berrettini joined the campaign alongside Italian high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi and revealed his reasons behind the decision. “Violence against women has no excuse. It is not an excuse to say “I loved her too much”, it is not an excuse to say “I was jealous”, it is not an excuse to say “she provoked me”. Think about it: if you hit or harass a woman, you have no excuse. No excuse,” said the Italian. His words echoed his serious disapproval of any kind of violence or abuse against women.
Matteo Berrettini’s new role as PIF’s ambassador instills a kind of confidence in people that the fund will be used properly to empower tennis enthusiasts. Following the Italian’s humble and dedicated words about this partnership, it seems that he would try his best to make it successful and help the sport flourish in areas where it’s still kind of alien. Do you think he can make it?
