Carlos Alcaraz has been facing ‘Big Three’ comparisons since breaking onto the tour. His jump in the rankings last year saw many experts draw parallels to Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. Initially, the 20-year-old was hailed as the next Rafael Nadal – the one Spaniard who dominated the tour like no one before. However, in the past year, young Alcaraz has begun to show similarities with Djokovic and Federer as well.
With his breathtaking on-court movement and fierce shot making, Alcaraz resembles two of the finest traits of Djokovic and Federer respectively. Add Nadal’s fighting spirit and passing shots to it, and you might find the best possible amalgamation of the Big Three. Recently, Djokovic’s coach weighed in on this dangerous mixture of the Big Three that Carlos Alcaraz is.

As mentioned above, Alcaraz has been facing these comparisons for quite some time. However, they became more prominent ever since his resounding Wimbledon success. Djokovic himself acknowledged the fact that Alcaraz has some of the best elements of the Big Three in his game. Now, Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic has seconded the Serb by making a similar statement.
"People have been been talking about his game consisting of elements of Roger, Rafa, and myself"
"I would agree with that. I think he's got the best of all three worlds"

Recently, Goran Ivanisevic was a guest on Dnevnik Nova TV. In an interview, he was asked about Alcaraz being a combination of the Big Three. Ivanisevic said in response, “He is a mixture of all three and he has an incredible future ahead of him. If he continues like this, he has an incredible future ahead of him. He does it all with a smile, and we have the opportunity to watch him in the last three editions of this tournament.”
Many experts have weighed in on the Big Three comparisons and predicted a bright future for Alcaraz. However, some have also disagreed with the popular opinion. Of the latter is an Austrian coach, who has been reluctant to jump on the Alcaraz train despite all the hype.
Austrian coach rubbishes Carlos Alcaraz and the Big Three comparisons
The Austrian coach in question is none other than Gunter Bresnik, Dominic Theim‘s childhood coach. Bresnik refuses to acknowledge that Alcaraz is in the same league, believing that the Big Three and Andy Murray showed more promise as youngsters. He said, ?I?m still convinced that Roger, Rafa, Novak, and maybe Murray played better at their best than Alcaraz is doing today.?
