Can Nick Kyrgios balance his comeback and ESPN role, or is he biting off more than he can chew?

Nick Kyrgios‘ presence has been missed by many. After all, he has never failed to captivate fans with his dramatic on-court flares and antics. While the Aussie star plans to return to the sport after a long injury hiatus, he will continue his stint with another role. Kyrgios will enjoy a direct line into commenting on fellow players’ performances and providing expert insight!

The infamous ‘Bad Boy of Tennis’ has been plagued with health concerns. Despite showcasing immense talent, Kyrgios couldn’t keep up with his sporting obligations after sustaining multiple injury counts. However, the Aussie acted as a commentator, providing his insights for the Australian Open and the Wimbledon this year.

Kyrgios will be marking his attendance at the US Open. Subsequently, to much surprise, he will be stepping into the ranks of an ESPN commentator in New York. The highly decorated broadcasting network took to its official social media handle to announce the news. This will be the Aussie’s third ESPN on-air assignment this year.

But what about playing the racket sport? Aside from one brief match-up at the 2023 Stuttgart Open, the Australian star hasn’t been active since his doubles adventure with Thanasi Kokkinakis at the season-ending 2022 ATP Finals. However, the 29-year-old is ready to make a resounding return.

In hopes of putting his bad luck behind him, the 2022 SW19 finalist will feature at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in New York. The brainchild of Patrick Mouratoglou, UTS will run its course between August 22-23 at the Forest Hills Stadium. The Aussie took to his Instagram to announce his participation in the second leg of this year’s UTS Tour.

He said, I want to inform anyone that keeps up with UTS, or is a tennis fan out there, that I will be competing on the 22nd August at the Forest Hills Stadium in New York. I know it’s been a long time. But my body’s finally ready to get back out there and have some fun. While the Australian talent stepped away from his on-court commitments, ever-vocal Kyrgios never stopped sharing his opinions on matters concerning active ATP professionals.

Nick Kyrgios blasts Jannik Sinner for failing doping test

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has escaped experiencing a dooming fate. The Italian evaded a ban despite failing two doping tests for an anabolic substance in March. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) handed Sinner a clean chit after assessing that a metabolite of Clostebol entered his system unintentionally via a contaminated over-the-counter spray used by his physiotherapist. This, in turn, did not sit well with Nick Kyrgios.

Taking to social media, the Aussie lambasted Sinner saying “Ridiculous – whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance. You should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream…. Yeah nice.” Although the 23-year-old won’t face a harsh sentence, he will stripped of his Indian Wells prize money and ranking points, where his first positive test was acknowledged.

While Kyrgios is seemingly displeased with the decision, Sinner is likely relieved. The Italian’s ban evasion means he will be prepping for his US Open dream run and aiming for a successful campaign in New York.
