Ahead of the 2022 Australian Open, World No.1 Novak Djokovic has been at the center of the drama. After being denied entry into the country, several tennis stars have come out in support of Djokovic. One of the surprising names among this list is hometown favorite Nick Kyrgios. Despite standing with the nation’s pandemic guidelines, Nick felt that the 20-time Grand Slam winner was being treated poorly.
Nick Kyrgios on Djokovic: I feel like he’s helped us as well. Like during the bushfires, he was supportive, he was helping us out. Owing to his decision with regard to the Covid-19 health situation, Djokovic’s Australian Open participation was jeopardized. The defending champion then took to social media to confirm that he would be taking part in the first major of the new season, under medical exemption.
Contrary to what Tennis Australia informed Nole, however, the government said that there would be no medical allowances. In addition, the 34-year-old faced some problems with his visa, meaning that he was kept in detention for the time being.

Nick Kyrgios wary of post-detention Novak Djokovic
Currently detained and in isolation, Novak Djokovic still awaits further word. Although Nick Kyrgios has had his fair share of controversies with regard to the ‘Djoker’, he believes that the entire saga is unfortunate. Recently, he spoke about how Djokovic and him had a good relationship earlier, and thanked the Serbian sensation for his contributions during the bush fires.
Whether Djokovic will be allowed to defend his prestigious crown remains to be seen. But if he is allowed to play, Kyrgios believes that it will unlock a door to an entirely different Novak.

Talking about potentially facing the world’s best player after the chaos, the 26-year-old said, “I don’t want any bar of that Novak who’s gonna be out there, like a villain Novak again. I want no part of it bro. How many backhands do you think he’ll miss if he’s pissed at the crowd? He won’t miss a backhand.”
