The 27 years old has further claimed to be one of the favorites to win the event in his home country.

The Australian tennis player has previously withdrawn from various tournaments including the United Cup and Adelaide International. However, Nick Kyrgios is all geared up for the Grand Slam event in Melbourne as he looks to clinch the title. The 27 years old is also confident about being one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Kyrgios talked about the same after a practice session ahead of the Australian Open. He claimed to be one of the best players in the entire tennis community.
Notably, the Australian said that he is going to go into the Grand Slam event with a lot of confidence. He said that he is usually been a dark horse type of player on the tour. However, after a remarkable previous season now, the Wimbledon finalist claimed to be one of the favorites in another Grand Slam event. Kyrgios also said it is going to be challenging considering the competition he is going to face in the event.
The ATP star went on to say that it is the first time he has genuinely gone into a Grand Slam event with the feeling of winning it. Kyrgios said that he thinks he is one of the guys on the tour that can really take the trophy. He added, “I don’t know what I’m going to be feeling when I get out there.”
However, Kyrgios said that it isn’t going to be an easy task as there are many great players participating in the event.

Who will Kyrgios play during the tournament?
A slew of fans are excited as the fixtures of the first Grand Slam event of the season have been released. The 27 years old will been up against the Russian tennis player, Roman Safiullin for the first round match of the Australian Open.
Prior to the start of the tournament, he was up against the Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios accepted the 21-time singles Grand Slam champion’s proposal of playing a practice match before the Grand Slam event.
