Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is in brilliant form this year. The 27-year-old made it to his first Grand Slam final earlier this year and recently won the Citi Open before going into the last Grand Slam of the year. Playing in the US Open, the Aussie has won his first two matches and is through to the third round.

This year’s US Open is the last time we will see Serena Williams in action. As she retires after the US Open, she is getting tributes from all over the world. Interacting with the media after his match, Kyrgios also had high praise for the American.

Nick Kyrgios on Serena Williams

Addressing the media after his second-round win, a reporter asked Kyrgios who according to him is the GOAT of women’s tennis. After confirming the question, Kyrgios straight away took Serena’s name.

“Reporter: Who do you think is the G.O.A.T. in women’s tennis?

Nick Kyrgios: Who do I think is the G.O.A.T.?

Reporter: In women’s tennis.

Nick Kyrgios: I’d say, Serena, no? Who do you think?”

When the reporter further suggested the names of other great tennis players, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, and Margaret Court, Kyrgios said, “There’s so much I want to say, but I’m just going to say, Serena, yeah”

Serena Williams is doing well so far in her last Grand Slam. The American recently beat second seed Anett Kontaveit in her second-round clash to book her slot for the third round.

Kyrgios speaks about travel fatigue

Nick Kyrgios has time and again raised the issue regarding travel for Australian tennis players. With the way the tennis calendar is scheduled, Nick Kyrgios believes the players from Australia have to travel a lot more compared to other players.

He also said, he has not been home in the past four months. Speaking of fatigue, the 27-year-old said after his first-round win, he is already 99% exhausted. However, the Aussie is hopeful of a good performance in the US Open, as it is his last stop before going home.
