Although Medvedev tried every shot in his book, he couldn’t overcome the challenge of Kyrgios, who is having an incredible season. Despite the incredible tennis prowess showcased by both players in the match, there were some controversial moments, as is the case with almost every match involving the Australian star.
What did Nick Kyrgios do this time to rouse the crowd?
Medvedev hit a no-look backhand shot that went straight up in the air. Kyrgios crossed the net and hit the ball before it bounced, therefore losing the point. Reacting to this musical artist, Andrew Rose Gregory said, “Put this on Shaqtin’ a Fool @SHAQ.”

Despite losing the point, Kyrgios celebrated it, which resulted in the crowd booing him. Patrick McEnroe, who was courtside, debriefing, was left shocked and said, “I honestly was thinking that was legal.”
The Australian star was dominant on his service games and gave Medvedev hardly any breathing space. Moreover, he attacked the top seed’s serve well to prevail in an encounter lasting just under three hours.
With this win, Kyrgios is into the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open where he will face Karen Khachanov in another mouth-watering contest.
