Every tennis player carries their own personality of being uncontentious or feisty on the tennis court. But as time passed, the definition of these personality traits shifted a little bit. For instance, the definition of aggressive has been rewritten many times on the tennis court. What feisty meant for SuperBrat John McEnroe is not the same when it comes to Nick Kyrgios.

As we all know, Jimmy Connors and McEnroe were very outspoken and expressed themselves fully on the tennis court. And they were always clear about their stand including their rivalry against each other.

In a recent conversation with the Tennis Channel, the former Australian Open champion, Brian Teacher, detailed how Nick Kyrgios’ feisty personality doesn’t even come close to that of McEnroe and Connors. And he talked about how there are not many aggressive young tennis players in the current ATP circuit.

He said, “He (Jimmy Connors) didn’t really want to drill he didn’t like, you know, let’s warm up and play, yeah, and he was like that, you know, he was feisty. I admired the guy; you know he’s a feisty guy, and you know McEnroe is feisty too. So, we had a lot of interesting personalities, right very feisty, very feisty. You don’t have those type. Well, you have Nick Kyrgios a little bit today, right? But he’s not quite as good as those guys in a sense.”

Further, he also talked about the dedication of both the American tennis players during their playing career. And how everything related to the sport was important to them, from practicing tennis for four-five hours to winning Grand Slam tournaments.

However, the 68-year-old former Australian Open champion is not the only one to draw a comparison between the seven-time Grand Slam champion tennis legend and the Australian tennis star for their on court antics.

When John McEnroe compared his and Kyrgios’ on-court personalities

Last year, in an interview, SuperBrat shared an honest assessment of being constantly compared to the Australian tennis player. The former world number one believed that the Australian tennis player was wrongly considered as a ‘bad person’ just because of his anxiety and fear that sometimes take over when he wants to perform his best on the tennis court.

In that conversation, McEnroe also highlighted that his fear of failure and inability to give his best shot is the  biggest reason for his inability to win a Grand Slam tournament.
