Andy Roddick yet again takes a jibe at Nick Kyrgios for his controversial comments! Roddick has been one of the biggest supporters of Jannik Sinner during this ongoing doping saga. While Kyrgios has been the Italian’s biggest critic. Previously, while addressing the Aussie’s controversial comments on the doping cases, Roddick took a jibe at him, saying those are more “like a desperate grab for attention.” Now, recently Roddick was spotted taking an aim at Kyrgios for his bizarre comments on a post. Which featured Llyeton’s Hewitt’s son Cruz and Jannik Sinner at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

What’s the fuss all about, though? Well, Cruz Hewitt was given a wildcard to AO qualifying. Where he was all set to emulate the incredible rise of his dad, who went on an inspired run through qualifying as a 15-year-old wildcard in 1997 to reach the first of 20 consecutive main draw appearances at the AO. However, he was defeated by Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first qualifier. Cruz is one of the highly rated junior players in Australia. And he was also recently spotted enjoying a practice session with the defending champion, Jannik Sinner.

Images and videos of their practice session went viral instantly, and then we also saw Cruz sharing a ‘before and after’ photo, which featured their practice with an older image of younger Cruz alongside Sinner. However, Nick Kyrgios’ wasn’t too pleased after seeing this picture, and he dropped three comments on his IG post saying, “Love ya Cruz, but this is wild 😢. The second one read, “Thought we were boys 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔,” and interestingly, in the third comment, he wrote, “Cooked post 💉.

Now, after seeing all this happen in the last few days, Andy Roddick has finally opened up about Nick Kyrgios’ reaction to that post. During the latest episode of the ‘Served with Andy Roddick’, he said, “I have decided to lay off because there is this weird thing where he wants the likes. At this point, he is a tennis influencer. He lives for likes. He lives in the comments section. But what I have an issue with is the hypocrisy with which he picks and chooses when to levy judgment on others while also wanting you to digest the context of his comments – the latest being towards Cruz Hewitt, who practiced with Jannik Sinner.”

He said that it’s really a “big deal” for Cruz Hewitt to get the chance to play with the world number one. Then Roddick further commented on Nick Kyrgios’ reaction to that post, “Imagine as an almost 30-year-old man, going into the comments of a 16-year-old who is the best player in the world. If you think he is guilty or not guilty, it’s still a moment when you get to do that. That’s a big moment and to simply post a picture and then have this guy go into the comments and make it all about himself. ‘I thought we were bros.’

He said, “The defense was all made that it was a joke. The lack of awareness you have with bringing trolls and all of the worst of tennis fandom into a 16-year-old’s comments is ridiculous. It’s ridiculous.”

Interestingly, this news comes shortly after Kyrgios’ controversial comments on Cruz Hewitt’s IG post featuring Jannik Sinner. The addition of Kyrgios will surely boost the confidence of the Australian team ahead of their qualifying tie in Sweden on January 31 and February 1. What do his team members think of his comeback, though?

Well, Alex de Minaur recently responded to this news by saying, “I’m excited, I’m completely fine with having Nick in the team. It’s going to be great…Obviously, Nick, at the height of his game, is extremely dangerous any time he steps on the court, whether it’s singles, doubles, mixed, or whatever. He has so much talent and of course, it’s great to have him on the team.” However, before the Davis Cup, we already have action-packed weeks coming up at the 2025 AO. How far do you think Kyrgios can go at his ‘Home Slam’?
