Nick Kyrgios has done it again. The 27-year-old hot-headed Aussie had a tense bust-up with the line judge and umpire after a recent defeat. Over the years, the Wimbledon 2022 finalist has earned a reputation as a bad boy. Be it his opponents, umpires, or even spectators, he has had feuds with all of them. The year was already full of misadventures for Kyrgios and he has added another one to the list.

This time he lost his cool against the chair umpire and the line judge. Here’s what happened.

Nick Kyrgios’ verbal attack on the umpire and line judge

Kyrgios is currently competing in the inaugural World Tennis League in Dubai. The 27-year-old was up against Felix Auger-Alliasime yesterday. The bust-up happened when the Aussie collided with the line judge. After losing the point in his next shot, the Australian was furious with the line judge. Here’s what he said, as reported by Express,

“Why didn’t you move if you saw me coming,” he said after colliding with the line judge while trying to return the Canadian’s serve. The Aussie again complained to the chair umpire about a point that he lost to Felix later in the match. He shouted, “That was wide, then why aren’t you calling it? I don’t have to correct everything that you think is in.”

While such incidents entertain the fans, Kyrgios ends up getting punished for it. As it is an exhibition match, the ATP probably won’t be looking into the matter.

Getting into an argument is nothing new for Kyrgios. The 27-year-old had a brilliant run in the US Open championship this year. After losing the final of Wimbledon against Novak Djokovic, the 27-year-old battled hard in the hard courts of Flushing Meadows.

In his fourth-round match against Daniil Medvedev, the chair umpire gave him a time violation, and the Aussie was visibly unhappy with the decision. Kyrgios expressed his dissent and fumed over umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore for starting the service clock too soon.

Kyrgios further added that she is the only umpire with whom he has a problem in this matter. Fans were not happy with his behavior towards the umpire and the Aussie received a loud booing from the crowd. While Kyrgios’ performance has been great this year, such incidents have often clouded an otherwise brilliant 2022 season for the Aussie.
