Nick Kyrgios has had a season to forget this year. He received a double injury blow as problems in his knee and wrist kept him out for almost the entire 2023 season. He played just one tournament this year in Germany and lost the only match he played.
The Australian star is still battling his injuries and comeback possibilities remain uncertain going into the next year. It has been a huge loss for Australia as Kyrgios was one of their top prospects in men’s tennis. And, Tennis Australian boss, Craig Tiley, has shared his thoughts regarding Kyrgios’ return next season.
What did the Tennis Australia boss say about Nick Kyrgios?

Earlier this week, Tiley was involved in an interview where he talked about missing Kyrgios in action and his comeback prospects in 2024. While he is still battling knee and wrist issues, there is a big possibility that Kyrgios will have to miss the Australian Open for the second year running.
Talking about Kyrgios, the Tennis Australia boss said, “we’re going to have Nick here in some form or another in January.”Further, he went on to add, “Hopefully it is to play because he’s a crowd-pleaser. We love watching Nick and love having him around.”

Owing to his lengthy injury absence, Kyrgios has dropped out of the ATP rankings chart. As a result, if he has to play the big tournaments, Kyrgios will have to bank on his protected ranking or wildcard. The Australian star has been quite vocal regarding his comeback. Recently, he took inspiration from Alexander Zverev for the same.

Kyrgios looking to take a leaf out of Zverev’s book
The German tennis star made a successful return to the court this year after suffering a horrifying ankle injury at the French Open last year. He won two titles this year apart from consistent performances throughout. Kyrgios compared him with Zverev and wished to have a comeback like him.
Opening up on this front, Kyrgios said, “The stars have to align a little bit. And with Zverev, he’s an incredibly hard worker. That’s his reputation. He ticks all the boxes and if someone like that can come back from an injury like that, I think that’s what I have to draw inspiration from for sure.”
