Every time Nick Kyrgios steps onto the court, some sort of drama is sure to follow. Such has been his personality over the years that he has become a household name for eventful outings. Take the example of the 2022 Miami Open. He was irked by the chair umpire’s decisions during his pre-quarterfinal encounter against Jannik Sinner. Subsequently, he directed his frustration toward him which resulted in him being fined heavily. Recently, an unwanted Kyrgios record came to light to which the Australian star had a sarcastic response.

Nick Kyrgios takes a sarcastic jibe at his record

Recently, Nick Kyrgios was involved in an interview with Piers Morgan where he talked about various subjects – from his tennis career to his involvement in other sports. During that interview, an unwanted record came to light about him. Kyrgios has received almost $575,000 in fines, which is the most a player has received in tennis history.

When asked if he was proud of that record, Kyrgios said, “It goes to charity so on the flip side I could be the most generous ATP player ever. Sometimes when I watch my highlights back and I realized look I probably shouldn’t have done that look there’s some regret in some of my actions.”

Further, he went on to add, “Obviously like I’m not going to sit here and say no that was always warranted no sometimes I do cross the line but competitors out there know that and I think if you look at other sports you know trash talking is normal.”

Nick Kyrgios has often received fines here and there for his actions. However, he was slapped with a hefty fine once at the Wimbledon Championships.

When Nick Kyrgios received a massive punishment

During the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, controversy erupted after Kyrgios was captured spitting toward a spectator. His actions came after his first-round victory there and became a talking point.

However, the Australian star claimed that the spectator was disrespectful towards him which led to such actions. Nonetheless, Kyrgios was fined $10,000 for his actions. The Australian star reached the final of the tournament before losing out to Novak Djokovic in the summit clash.
