The tennis community has been treated to some thrilling on-court action ever since the Next Gen ATP Finals was established. While keeping up with its high standards, the latest edition of the exhibition tennis tournament has also managed to pique the interest of fans. Entering the exhibition tournament as the sixth seed, the Serbian tennis player started his campaign with a bang. In his first group-stage match, Hamad Medjedovic outperformed the fourth-seeded American Alex Michelsen after a five-set nail-biting drama in Jeddah. Later, the 20-year-old pulled off another upset against the second-seeded French, Luca Van Assche, defeating him in a four-set group match, 4-2, 2-4, 4-3, 4-1.
Abedallah Shelbayh, on the other hand, failed to start his campaign on a high note as he had to taste a defeat at the hands of Van Assche in his first match. However, the Jordanian tennis player later made amends by outclassing Alex Michelsen in a four-set encounter, 4-2, 1-4, 4-0, 4-0, at the King Abdullah Sports City.
Hamad Medjedovic vs. Abedallah Shelbayh: Head-to-Head Record
The group stage match of the Next Gen ATP Finals will mark the first encounter between Medjedovic and Shelbayh. There have been no prior confrontations between the young ATP players, with their H2H record currently tied at 0-0.
Prediction: Hamad Medjedovic to prevail in a four-set matchup
The Serbian tennis player has participated in a number of esteemed ATP events, including three Grand Slam tournaments. His upcoming opponent, Shelbayh, however, has not made any such notable impression on the tour as he has mostly participated in Challenger events. Given his vast experience and great momentum at the exhibition tournament, Medjedovic will most likely come out on top in this group match.
