There have been numerous instances of unruly crowd behavior in tennis this year. Take the example of Naomi Osaka. The Japanese tennis star burst into tears after being heckled by the crowd in Indian Wells. Additionally, there was another incident during the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships. The men’s singles final had to stop for a moment due to the unruly behavior of the crowd. Recently, Alexander Bublik was the latest player to face heat from the spectators.

The Kazakhstan tennis star is in Newport to participate in the Infosys Hall of Fame Open. The incident occurred during his second-round win over the local favorite, Jack Sock.

During the match, the crowd was very vocal in support of their hero Jack Sock. Further, talking about his win over Sock, Bublik said, “I was so pissed with the crowd I decided to take this match and win it. I was not happy how you guys cheered up and that’s what got me and why I put all the power to win it.”

The third seed Bublik began the match on the front foot and broke the American’s serve in the sixth game of the opening set. He went on to hold his serves to take the first set 6-3.

Further, Sock came back strongly in the second set. He broke Bublik’s serve in the sixth game of the second set. It eventually proved to be enough for Sock to level the match by winning the second set 6-3. However, Bublik, on the back of unruly crowd behavior came out all guns blazing to win the third set 6-2 and enter the next round.
Bublik downs Andy Murray
In the quarterfinals of the tournament, the third seed defeated Andy Murray comfortably in straight sets. In a match lasting an hour and 47 minutes, Bublik got the better of his British opponent 7-5, 6-4.
