Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic is privy to praises pouring in from politicians. The Serbinator has amassed a massive fan base from his breathtaking performances on the ATP Tour, and those in Congress aren’t immune to his charm. The 24-time grand slam champion lives large in their hearts, as a Congresswoman stepped forward to praise the player. 

Djokovic recently earned high praise from Congress member Claudia Tenney. The New York district Rep expressed her admiration for the former World No. 1. claiming that Djokovic is the “greatest athlete” produced by the sporting world, notably followed by basketball legend Michael Jordan.

The congresswoman voiced her comments on the 24-time Major champion via her official X handle. She replied to a post that highlighted the comments from Dan Evans, who spoke positively about Djokovic and painted him as a down-to-earth personality – an assumption that isn’t generally recognized by the tennis world. “I have never been in doubt @DjokerNole is the greatest athlete in history. Second would be Michael Jordan,” wrote Tenney in response.

Earlier this season, Tenney heaped praise on Nole after he was witnessed teaching young ball kids at a tennis court. The stirring video showcasing his friendly side prompted a reaction from the Congresswoman who took her social media handle to express her admiration of the Serb. “So heartwarming that the greatest athlete ever is also a wonderful person.”

Djokovic was last witnessed in action at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Despite putting out an impressive two-week performance, his dream run at SW19 was thwarted by Carlos Alcaraz who concluded the Serb’s challenge in the event’s summit clash. Djokovic has earned good faith with the Congresswoman as she comes to laud the Serb whenever she can!

Earlier this year, although he did not win the tournament, Djokovic found a significant achievement in the Australian Open. The 10-time champion achieved his 31st victory in a row in the slam. As a fan account of the Djoker wrote, “Nobody plays better tennis than this man,” Tenney echoed their words as she responded, “Nobody.”

Tenney made Djokovic her pick for the Australian Open before 2024. When the tournament shared its promo in October 2023, Djokovic was notably absent. The snub did not settle well with the congresswoman who wrote, “Seriously? No graphic of the 10-time and current reigning Champ Novak Djokovic in your promo? The GOAT is the draw.“

While Tenney always picks Djoko as her favorite, she surprised tennis fans by picking Jannik Sinner over him in their Australian Open semifinal clash. However, as the former World No. 1 is scheduled to perform at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tenney will have high hopes. The multi-sport event will witness the Serb eyeing a career-first gold medal for his country. The highly-anticipated event will open its doors on Friday, July 26.
