The Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer is regarded as one of the most courteous and magnificent tennis players of all time. Many tennis fans consider the 20-time grand slam champion to be the most gifted player to ever grace the court.

Federer, on the other hand, does not share the same viewpoint as tennis fans. He recently issued an opposing remark in which he stated that supporters should stop referring to him as a gifted tennis player.
Roger Federer wants fans to stop labeling him a gifted player
The Swiss tennis Maestro, Federer recently featured an interview, where he talked about the ‘GOAT’ debate. Meanwhile, he also stated that when he is on the tennis court, people refer to him as a “gifted” player.
Roger Federer stated, “People see me on the court and they’re like,” he said, then lowered his voice to a whisper, “‘Oh, my God! He’s so gifted! Like, he can do it all by himself!’” However, the 20-time grand slam title winner, Federer called such appreciative statements “nonsense.”
He further added, ”We need inspiration. We need motivation. We need people to kick our ass and tell you, ‘OK, put on your shoes and go for a run. Put on your shoes and let’s go practice.”

Federer went on to say that fans rather need to motivate and inspire him rather than label him as a gracious player. He also said, ” I know you don’t want to do it here. I actually also don’t want to be here, but let’s still do it. And then you can go relax,’” he said. “It’s a challenge. But a good one. And I would do it all over again.”
The Swiss tennis legend recently announced his retirement with knee injuries a reason that made it difficult for him to compete in various tennis tournaments.

The 21-time grand slam title winner, Novak Djokovic posted an emotional message on his Instagram to pay tribute to the Swiss tennis great. Djokovic and Federer were great rivals on the tennis court, especially at Wimbledon. Other tennis stars like Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova, Venus Williams, Billie Jean King, Rafael Nadal, and many others also paid tribute to Roger Federer.
