Carlos Alcaraz had an incredible run this season as he claimed his second Grand Slam and reached the semi-finals of two other majors he played. After he triumphed against the invincible Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon Championship finals, the Spaniard equaled the Serb’s edge over him. But in the Cincinnati Masters finals, Alcaraz could not stop the Djoker’s reign. The young champion broke down in tears as he could not digest the loss in a closely contested match. The Spaniard recovered quickly and engaged in a funny on-court banter with Djoker, quoting, ‘Spanish never die.’

Alcaraz is Djoker’s most potent rival, and every victory against him makes the Serb more powerful. The wins against the World No.1 are vital for the Spaniard to reclaim his throne, and he reveals how Djokovic occupies his mind every time he practices.

The former World No.1’s performance did not reach expectations post his Grass court run. After winning a major title against the Serb, losing to him in a tour-level match is a hard pill to swallow. Adding salt to his wounds, Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner surpassed him in the US Open and the China Open semi-finals, respectively.

Alcaraz has a similar hunger to Rafael Nadal and high ambition as Djokovic. In a conversation with ‘Tennis TV,’ the interviewer asked the 2-time Grand Slam champion how often he thinks of Djker. Alcaraz laughed and said, “Hahaha, Almost in every practice (chuckles), I’m not going to lie.”

The 20-year-old revealed his goal for the season and said, “I practice with a goal. I go to the tournaments with a goal. It’s..trying to end the year as a World No.1. Ah..Novak Djokovic is around my mind almost in every practice.”?The 12 singles titles’ winner was also asked what he thinks when Djoker lives in his head.

The World No.2 revealed that he pays attention to every tiny detail and moves as fast as possible to defeat the Serb. The Spaniard said, “I have?to practice at my best. I have to give 100% in every ball to be able to catch him.”?Despite his dedication and commitment, the four ATP Masters titles winner blamed himself for the semi-final loss against Sinner in Beijing.

In just five years, Alcaraz has emerged as World No.1, claimed two majors, and 12 tour titles. So, even his consistent semi-final exits shocked the tennis community because Alcaraz rarely lost without making his opponents sweat. After falling to Sinner, the Spaniard said he was fogged by the second set and started complaining.

Alcaraz also targets an Olympic medal and sets massive goals at a tender age. The Spanish No.1 needs to make it big at the ATP 1000 event to regain his confidence, win points, and stay motivated for the next season. The Australian Open is the Serb’s comfort major, and to defeat him in Melbourne, Alcaraz has to shatter mountains.
