Top players are often the most abused whenever there’s a situation of inter-nation tension. Andrey Rublev is no less. Amid the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Rublev has been receiving several unpleasant messages lately.
However, instead of replying to the hateful messages, World No. 7 has shown a calm response to it. Rublev recently opened up on the messages received by him on the internet. He also spoke about how the current situation between the two countries is much more important than his match.

The Rublev way of dealing with hatred
24-year-old Rublev recently opened up about the hate-filled messages he has been receiving on the internet. His crime? Being a Russian. Andrey is being abused and ill-treat on the internet lately amid the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
However, unlike the borders between the 2 countries, Rublev is preferring the peaceful way. Supporting his peaceful ideology, he said, “Of course I get some bad comments on Internet because I am Russian. I can’t react on them. If I want to have peace, I need to be like doesn’t matter. Even if they throw rocks to me, I need to show I’m for peace, I’m not here to be aggressive or something.”

Having a decent run in the first three rounds, 2nd seeded Rublev is in the semi-finals of the ATP 500 Dubai Open. However, the Russian feels that the current state between Russia and Ukraine is much more important than his match. He says, “In these moments you realise that my match is not important. What’s happening is much more terrible.”
Emphasizing the ideology of peace, Rublev urges the world to be united and take care of the earth and also each other. He says, “You realise how important is to have peace in the world and to respect each other no matter what, to be united. We should take care of our earth and of each other.”

Andrey Rublev started his 2022 season with a 3rd round loss in the Australian Open.Not losing hope, he moved ahead, looking to defend his title at the ATP 500 Rotterdam Open. He cruised through the initial rounds without giving too much. However, the 21-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime ended his run in the semi-finals.

Hoping for a better result, he next played the ATP 250 Marseille. Entering the tournament as the 2nd seed, Rublev received a first-round bye. He reached the finals in the tournament. However, he was put to a tough test on his way. In the finals, he again faced Felix Auger-Aliassime. However, this time Rublev went ahead, beating the Canadian in straight sets.

Rublev is now playing the ATP 500 Dubai as the 2nd seed. Having a decent run till now, the Russian is in the semi-finals of the hardcourt tournament and will face the winner of Janick SInner and Hubert Hurkacz.
