World No. 2 Rafael Nadal has been a source of inspiration to many youngsters. People look up to him when it comes to the subjects of dedication, patience, determination, and even perseverance. However, just like any other ordinary kid, he too admired some great sportsmen when he was a youngster. He has now even revealed the name of one of these athletes.

In a recent interview, Rafael Nadal revealed that he has always taken inspiration from the Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario. “Well, I always admire the top athletes,” began Nadal. “I’m a big fan of the sport and when I was a kid, Ronaldo was playing in Barcelona with my uncle. So yeah, have been one of my favorite football players of all time.”

Nadal has always had an affection for football since his childhood. He follows the sport on a regular basis and is a big Real Madrid fan. Ronaldo Nazario too played for Madrid after playing for FC Barcelona. It was here that the Brazilian won his second Ballon d’Or.

Nadal admitted that Ronaldo is one of the best players that he has ever seen on the football field. He has clearly followed the striker’s journey from his childhood and is a big fan of him.

Rafa has been friends with many football players. He even played soccer and tennis with Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo when he arrived in Madrid. Even though he is a Madrid fan, Nadal believes that Lionel Messi – who plays for the rival club FC Barcelona – is the best football player in the world.

Rafael Nadal recently defeated Alexei Popyrin in the quarters of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021. He thrashed his opponent in straight sets and enjoyed a comfortable win over him. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6-3.

After this, the Spaniard will play Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021 today. He is currently in superb form, and fans really have high expectations from him. Will Rafa be able to win his sixth title in Madrid this year?
